Other Characters: N/A
Name: Sideswipe and Sunstreaker/AU combined name Twinspark (used rarely, mostly secret)
From: Transformers G1 combined with Bay-Formers 2007, with a slight IDW-Formers aftertaste.
Appearance: Giant robots, one mostly red and one mostly yellow. http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/201/0/b/0bb7d2b3f72628dadf1961233b4b2046.jpg (Image not my own) In their alt forms, they're a red Lamborghini Reventon and a yellow Lamborghini Reventon Roadster. In their human-Pretender forms, they're around 5'9”, 175lbs, and appear to be in their mid-late 20's. Sideswipe has short red hair while Sunstreaker has long blonde hair, both have bright blue eyes, and aside from the hair color would appear to be identical twins. They look to be physically fit and athletic without being overly muscular. (Human forms http://fanatical-chick.deviantart.com/gallery/10970128?offset=24#/d12jiu4 which is my own image. Very old and very very terrible. Will be updated with a better picture once I can upload something. 9_9)
Age: A few million years old. No, really.
Gender: Male, for the most part. But these are giant robots we’re talking about.
Personality: In a way, they're polar opposites: Sideswipe is outgoing, friendly, makes friends fairly easily and enjoys the company of others while Sunstreaker is vain and antisocial, surly and standoffish and quick to anger, with a deep sociopathy that makes it hard for those who aren't his brother to get close to him. This is in fact due to the nature of their shared spark. Each Twin got one half of the same soul-like spark at creation, splitting the personality into two individuals. They're possessive and intensely protective of one another, and if one Twin is angered, then the other will step in to defend him. That isn't to say, however, that they don't have arguments or anger one another. As with all siblings, they know how to push each other's buttons and sometimes seem to do so purely for enjoyment. Sideswipe is a natural prankster, continuously seeking out a new way to pull a fast one on his friends, and often brings his brother in on the job. But there's never any malicious intent behind it, and he never shirks from the punishment Optimus and Prowl deem worthy of his transgressions when they're eventually caught, despite the small dislike of authority they both hold.
When their spark-halves are marged together into the whole, their personality is much more level-headed and calm as the two bipolar opposites balance one another out. Friendly and level-headed, more willing to stop and consider the consequences of their actions before making them. Their combined spark is more mature and ready to listen to the advice of others, and though the inherent mischievousness of Sideswipe's half of the spark is still present, it makes itself known more as a snarky wit, giving those around them an easier time of trusting the merge-sparked entity then the twins by themselves.
Backstory: The Twins were “born” not long before the war started on Cybertron and had only been alive for a few million “years” before war broke out. In their civillian life, Sunstreaker had been an artist, creating holographic images and welded sculptures in their apartment studio while Sideswipe ran a small “general store” below it and a gallery in the building adjacent to that set aside just for selling his brother's artwork. Though some would suspect them of having had difficulty in this decision partly in fact due to Sunstreaker's own violent nature, they never entertained the thought of joining the Decepticons. Instead, they quickly made a name for themselves as two of the strongest combatants in the Autobot army, known for their ferocity and skill and refusal to give up. When Optimus Prime came searching the ranks for soldiers for his own personal battalion, their skill was noticed and they were chosen to be two of the elite troops for his ranks.
After the war left Cybertron, Optimus' battalion split up into smaller groups to search for the Allspark. The twins went off on their own, and for millions of years they searched the universe until finally receiving the signal from Optimus Prime, inviting the Autobots to Earth. When they arrived, they took their place back in his ranks and have been there ever since, wreaking havoc on the enemy and rampaging through their own team with their endless pranks. The question about at least Sunstreaker's own allegiances still continue due to his volatile nature, but deep down, their loyalty for the Autobots and Optimus Prime is second only to their undying devotion to each other.
Moral Standing: They're absolutely good, though their unpredictable, sometimes-violent nature makes others view them as potential traitors by some of their less-trusting comrades.
Dreams: To slag some Decepticon scum, of course! And to finally get Prowl to crack a smile. That bot's got a funny bone, they just know it! They'll find it, no matter how many pranks they have to pull to find out what brings it out.
Fears: Losing one another. Or more specifically, losing one another in such a way that leaves the other still operational. Death doesn't scare them, but losing their other half does.
Extra: These two are an AU version of the character derived from bits and pieces of Bayverse, the original G1 cartoon series, and the recent IDW comics series. In their 'verse, the Autobots all readily employ a type of “Pretender” technology, something that has been in use in the franchise since the beginning that allows them to take a human form. It was created by the Decepticon Starscream as a way of forcing the Autobots into a weaker, more-easily killed form that was stolen by the Autobots and then used as a further form of disguise to keep from being detected and to allow them to blend in more easily with their new hosts. Also, the nature of their bond allows Sideswipe and Sunstreaker to merge their individual consciousnesses into the original Twinspark, controlling both bodies at once as one mind and bringing out their true personality. In that way, they are able to leave one body in a safe location while the other goes to investigate and retrieve intel while the other relays the information found to the rest of the Autobots. Depending on the situation, either body may stay behind, as Sunstreaker's strength is in his marksmanship and Sideswipe is a melee combatant. Sideswipe himself is equipped with a personal jetpack that he often uses to take down air-borne Decepticons in battle, while his brother shoots from the ground. Both are dubiously skilled in something called “jet-judo.” Whether this is something they created themselves simply to taunt and frustrate the Decepticon Seekers or a legitimate martial art has yet to be seen. If it is, it's an obscure one, but that doesn't mean they're any less capable of causing damage doing it. They just aren't that great at avoiding themselves being damaged in the process.
Of important note on part of their AU, though I understand the importance of the no-sexual material in the game and be sure to never post any adult material to the game, the nature of their spark has led to them being bonded in a similar fashion to two bots who have a romantic relationship. Sparkbonding in much of the mythos is seen as marriage for Cybertronians, and as their spark started off as one spark that split into two, they are a bonded pair. As Cybertronians do not have the danger of genetic inbreeding, a social taboo for this kind of relationship was never developed in their culture the way it was in human culture. As well, with the very limited number of female Cybertronians, a same-sex couple isn't something that is frowned upon in their society, either.
The nature of a split-spark (or even a more common sparkbond) means that if one twin is killed in battle, the other's half of the spark will also cease to exist, but this doesn't deter them from putting themselves first in the line of battle (and sometimes into some debatably suicidal situations) when they know that they're needed. It also gives them a permanent telepathic bond with one another that is second nature to them and more natural then speaking verbally with together. When they do speak out loud to one another, it's oftentimes with their own unique “twin-language,” something that only the two of them (and any future bot that they accepted as a bondmate) are able to understand. It comes in quite handy when they want to discuss schemes and ideas that they know will get them into trouble.
As well, they'll be coming into the game with established CR with another player's AU former-Decepticon, now-neutral Seeker, Thundercracker, whom they've developed a strong bond with and taken as a third partner. She intends to bring this character in herself, so it wouldn't be something that was forced on anyone else who brought that character in, but has become a somewhat important note in their lives since bringing them into RP.
Character Location: Since they have no real emotional attachment to their quarters in Autobot City, they would love it if their apartment and general store, and Sunstreaker's gallery were suddenly restored and there for them. :D
Samples: Transformers cartoon series from 1984-1986, IDW Transformers Comics, and Transformers 2007 directed by Michael Bay.
Writing Sample: Their intro-thread from the counted_stars game: http://datapads.dreamwidth.org/393393.html It never went very far because AU's being accepted into the game was something that was in limbo at the time of posting and has since been revoked.
